Marc S. Iacobucci
Candidate for Town Collector

My name is Marc S. Iacobucci and I am a candidate for Town Collector.

I have resided in the town for the majority of my life growing up and attending Clinton schools. I am a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Curry College and pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Administration at Framingham State College. My wife Line (Lena) and I are town taxpayers residing in the Greeley Hill area of town for over two years.

It has been an honor and privilege to serve the Town of Clinton for the past eleven (11) years in the capacity of elected and appointed official. I learned a lot from the citizens I served and what was important to them. I have served as Parks and Recreation Commission member 1997 - 2000, Board of Selectmen 1999 - 2005 and Board of Assessors 2007 - present.

Appointed in 1997, I continue to serve on the towns Recycling Commission as well as prior serving on the Administrative By - Law and Senior Citizen Center Search Committees. During my time in town government, I have had the pleasure to serve and work with town and state officials on many crucial areas of Clinton's well being - infrastructure, education, public safety and the overall fiscal stability of the Town of Clinton.

As a Selectman I had to make solid decisions (not always popular) that I felt were in the best interest for Clinton, and I always explained my reasons for doing so; especially during the town budget, where for six (6) years I worked with my fellow Selectmen and Finance Committee members to balance a thirty (30) million dollar plus budget every year.

In my position as a member of the Board of Assessors some of the duties and responsibilities the board conducts include property valuations and reevaluations, site inspections, motor vehicle abatements and real estate exemptions for those who qualify i.e., seniors, veterans and blind.

The Assessor's office has extended office hours until 6pm on Tuesdays at no additional cost. Also, the Board of Assessor's can be located on the town's new website clintonma.gov.

The Town Collector is someone who has to assume a large amount of responsibility to the taxpayers and serves at the will of the people. The office interacts with numerous people during the day. I believe it is important to have services that compliment the public who use them on a daily basis.

My proposals, if elected would be to implement the following: extended office hours (the current hours are 8am - 4pm, Monday through Friday). New proposed hours for your convenience would consist of four days from 8am - 4pm and one day per week from 8am remaining open until 7pm, an extra three hours of service at no additional cost to the taxpayer.

It is also an office that can communicate in great lengths to the citizens through the mailing of the quarterly real estate tax bills. This procedure would inform taxpayers of upcoming town board and committee meetings, as well as annual and special town meetings without any additional costs to the taxpayers.

In addition to clintonma.gov, the collector's office will provide an up to date web page with pertinent information on tax due dates and online bill pay for customers. I believe that citizens should have more options when interacting with town government and I feel that these proposals mentioned above are good starting points.

I would like to ask the voters for their continued support in my candidacy for Town Collector, and also my thanks to clintonmass.com for the opportunity to express my thoughts in this forum.

Sincerely,
Marc S. Iacobucci
