I've started a blog about Clinton Schools. Specifically for those parents who choose to stay in Clinton, but of course all are welcome to read and comment.
My idea is to have a place for parents to go and "talk" about the schools. I'm hoping that this will spark discussion that will lead to information, ideas, and possible solutions for our schools.
This is my first attempt at something like this and it's also a work in progress. I will learn as I go and my hope is that your comments will keep it alive.
Take a look.

New Post on blog:
"I want to get a group of us together who advocate for the school (and ultimately our children). The idea is to have a year round effort to increase knowledge, gain support, and get a budget passed that makes sense for the school system."

What I don't understand is how it's so easy for people to see that other departments in town need money to continue to offer the best services, but they don't believe it to be true for the schools.

Since Town Meeting last Monday, the dust is settling and I've heard the phrase "what now?" alot. I've also heard anger and concern regarding the consequences of the budget cuts in the schools. It concerns me too.

So I had my meeting with Mr. Ingano on Thursday morning (Jul 12) and I think it went very well. I basically had three main topics to discuss: Communication, Marketing, and Politics. Mr. Ingano was very receptive all of the thoughts and ideas presented.

Reports of first day of school? Anyone?

Carrie First Day of School reports, I see multiple on your blog. But I find it necessary this AM to post on the discussion page regarding Mrs. Annemarie Sargents quote in this AM Item regarding First day of school. "Teachers were telling me this was the best first day in 20 years" This is a major insult to Mr. Michael Vetros the prior principal and devoted employee of the Clinton Schools for over 30 years. And I sincerely believe that not ALL teachers currently felt it was the best day in 20 years. There is major confusion in the middle school over the new scheduling , confusion within the teachers over what they teach and when, confusion among the students as to where they belong and when. It was not a good roll out of a new system, and it is dishonest and insulting to state it was the best first day in 20 years. Mr. Vetros deserves an apology. Yes maybe everyone did not always like the decisions Mike made but being a principal is a hard job and you will never have everyone on your side, Mike had a long history of keeping teachers within the Clinton School system, not many jumped ship, they stayed devoted to the school and the students and over the years I never once heard or saw of a bad first day of school under his guidance. Normal issues yes, Normal up's and downs yes, but that is what you will find in every school. This comment of Mrs. Annemarie Sargent is deplorable, insulting, and was not called for. This is a poor showing of the Clinton Middle Schools new principal and a poor example to the students she oversees. You should not encourage or show that insulting people who attempt to do their job for many years, and strive to improve the Clinton Schools is right, and I feel that is exactly what she did. I for one am not willing to say "oh she is new to the job" Mike mentored her, educated her, and attempted to prepare her for the job. She owes Mike a public apology, and administration needs to look into the issues at the middle school, immediately for the sake of our children and town.
