Tailgater

After a second try and 2 unhappy experiences later, I would suggest the company decide whether they just want to be another sports bar that happens to serve not-very-good food or if they truly want to offer a local restaurant alternative that customers will want to select for a nice meal out.

Can you be more specific about what you didn't like?  I've only been there twice.  Once, my meal (fish n chips) was mediocre and service was good.  The 2nd time, the food (chix sandwich with sweet potato fries) was good and the service was mediocre.  All that being said, I'll be going back because the TV in the booth occupies the kids while we enjoy our meal.

Re: Tailgater

My guy and I have been to Tailgaters about 3 or 4 times and got a salad takeout the last time we ordered from them. Here our the complaints we have: the soup was over-reduced and burnt, fries were cold and soggy, steak was raw instead of rare and prime rib was overcooked. Waitress on one occasion was rude and lastly when I ordered a takeout chef's salad (which was around $10) the lettuce was wilted and brown and the meat in the salad was slimy. After that last ditch effort we swore off the place altogether. I have heard some people say they go there for cocktails but since I don't drink that often I avoid the place. I laugh when I see that they cater since they can't handle serving one person quality fresh food-let alone a group!

I have only been to TAILGATERS once, and everything was great...the waitress friendly and pleasant and couldn't be more helpful...the food was very good...was amazed at what they did with the place...We plan on  going back on Sunday...I don't have any complains about them...on a scale of 1-10 I would give them 10.....

Re: Tailgater

I've never been inside Tailgaters but we ordered some seafood/take-out a few weeks ago....fried clams, scallops, haddock. Everything was great! Sounds like it's hit or miss.

Re: Tailgater

Been to tailgaters many times and have always had good experiences with food and service.  I am also a vegetarian and appreciate that a sports pub actually has multiple options for me.

Re: Tailgater

I wonder if they have multiple Chefs.. that could be why one gets great food and another doesn't.

Re: Tailgater

I have been 3 times so far starting about 3 weeks ago, so far my Fiance and I have been very happy with the food we have received we had the irish nachos and some sandwiches, all food has been good. My only complaint is that our waitress, I don't remember her name, wasn't very attentive to us and it took a very long time between drinks being ordered and food to come out, which wouldn't be so bad if she had come back to ask if we needed more drinks. Definitely not a deal breaker for us, we really enjoy the atmosphere there and if you can go when there is a trivia night, so much fun!

Re: Tailgater

I went there on my birthday earlier this month and other than some service issues where our drinks and food came out slow, our food was really good.  My Mom is super-critical and she said that the clamroll was about the best she's ever had.  Now that's sayin' somethin'!

Re: Tailgater

I will go there for martinis, but not for  food. After 3 tries with bad, late and cold food and even worse service (every time) we are done eating there,

That's interesting. We declared Tailgators off limits for food, but a friend of ours recently went there and reported it was MUCH better than before the flood, downright GOOD!

Have you tried the food there after last spring's flood, Mariah?

Where are we going?....and what's with this handbasket?

Re: Tailgater

I definitely think it's hit or miss there.  When jhammill and I went there for the first time during the week, business was slow and we sat and talked to the bartender and waitresses and they were all super nice!  We had a really delicious chicken sandwich and some drinks and decided we loved the place.  We then went for trivia night which was a blast, and had awesome irish nachos, but my hamburger that I ordered medium-rare was completely well-done...not my style and I was disappointed.  However, all the waitresses have been really nice and I love the atmosphere.
