It seems that we will have a busy caucus meeting this Friday. Anyone in Clinton, who is a registered voter, and who can, should plan to attend the caucus to be able to voice your opinion on any new players in the Clinton Town races.
It is rumored that there may be some people that are going to join the town races at this caucus.
It is important as voters of Clinton that you be there to approve (or not) those additional people wanting to join the race. These people typically are added to the race late in the game to "spoil" the others who decided early (and submitted the paperwork and signatures) to run. They are usually "convinced" to run by current politicians, to help forward their own agendas.
The caucus is a way for the voters to say YES OR NO to these new additions.
If these people wanted to run (and weren't strong-armed into doing it) A good question may be "Why did you wait so long to join the race?" And "Why didn't you follow the rules that everyone else did."
I plan to be there. And I urge as many people that can come to attend, the more the merrier. If it pans out like it is rumored to, it should be very interesting.
Registered voters- Come by if you can!

Between yours and Joe's buildup, this had better be a grand announcement!
(Although I have a suspicion of my own.)

Either that or it comes and goes without incident. We shall see.
There has been talk around town.

Oh no Ken It won't be a "grand announcement" I think it will be fairly anticlimactic myself. We have an excellent candidate for Selectman who I will be supporting.
I'm not to sure what the caucus will bring for the other offices, maybe a couple more candidates for assessor! I wish I could be there for the excitement of it all but I have to work.

Nobody for assessor, but there was a selectman and Planning Board nomination:
With 75 voters in attendance at the 5 p.m. March 27 caucus, Robert Weeks of Richman Street was overwhelmingly nominated for selectman, while Ron Wood of South Meadow Road was handily nominated for a five-year term on the Planning Board.

It was a very interesting caucus. Robert Weeks for Selectman ( nominated by Mary Rose at al) and Woody Woods for Planning Board (done at the last minute).
All because the "establishment" was upset with the current BOS selections.
Vote Bill Connolly for selectman.

The people of Clinton really should vote for some candidates who have NOT lived in town their whole lives, and who are not well connected in town. A different perspective is important. It can provide balance. Balance is good.

That would be a great idea Rudolph. Unfortunately that will not happen here. Most of the people that come out to vote are seniors. They vote on the name they know.
