For some reason all of my comments went on Allison page, and I need to e mail Ken to find out why that is happening... Sorry Allison!!
Allison I did hear that Connolly was making racist comments, that is so sad that this campaign has come down to whites, blacks and hispanics. But to me that shows what type of Selectman we have running for us. I am really happy that we have the young voters out there speaking their minds. You are our future for this town..
Now we're getting into kindergarten stuff.....someone heard that somebody else said that they heard that this person said........give me a break!
Bill is a person with integrity and as a business owner and past member of other boards in Clinton wouldn't go around making racial comments. Also as a father he wouldn't set that type of example for his children.

Reading Ally's posts is giving me a headache.
Not only if she making Clifford Blake look bad (being his biggest supporter), but she's making 19-year-olds look bad as well.

If you can't back this allegation up with proof, it's pure speculation.

I was starting to think this myself. Ally/Alison/whomever, you aren't doing Mr. Blake any favors.

What amazes me is that Cliff, a former Marine, is allowing a 19 year old and "another" person named Ally to speak for him and make some harsh allegations without proof. Cliff, these posters speak to your values, of which I do not personally know. Your silence, however, and lack of response to others mudslinging on your behalf certainly does not show change you profess to bring or, more importantly, integrity.
The proof is in the pudding...VOTE CONNOLLY.

Just to chime in on the "comments" attributed to Bill Connolly; I don't for a minute believe Bill made any such remarks.
Firstly, I know Bill from many conversations that we have had about our town, and he doesn't talk like that.
Secondly, those kinds of racial equations are irrelevant to the political calculus of Clinton, and my impression of Bill is that he's astute enough to understand that.
Sorry Ally, but I think you've got a bum source there.

Three pages of posts later, 2 votes are lost for Mr. Blake. I kept reading and reading to find out what Mr. Blake actually wants to do and all I got out of it was that he just doesn't quite know yet. He appears to be unable to take a strong stand for actual ideas he believes in and the people asking us to vote for him don't seem to have any idea what he believes in either. The whole thing reminds me of a Junior High class officer race and I think this down deserves more than that. The only way I'd reconsider my vote (and my husband, as well) would be if Mr. Blake would post a listing of all the items he'd like to accomplish and how he plans to do that. Perhaps he plans to do this at Candidate's night, but I am unable to attend that event.

Maybe you are not reading all the posts I have post on here. I think you have your mind made up who you will vote for anyhow. But thanks for trying to read about my positions. I am not really posting anymore on any of the websites but you should come to the debate and learn about all the candidates even the ones your not voting for. The great thing about our democracy is we all have a choice. Nice try but we all see what your intent is on this thing.
When I win the Selectman position I will work for all the citizens even for you.

Mr. Blake, do you have specific ideas for how you would accomplish the above? The economy is poor all over -- it's not just Clinton. How would you help us weather this storm?
"To get our town Economy ready for the coming inflation that will hurt our town we need to take the town budget and go over it line by line to find out where every penny is spent. I also would like to sit down with every Dept head in the town to find out the salary's and projects underway that cost the town money and to eliminate wasteful spending. I think just like with any other budget I have dealt with, The Budget can be streamlined to save the tax payers of the town a lot of money. I believe this can be done without hurting the operations of the town. We need to also Slash the town's Business Regulations so it will unshackle the entrepreneurial spirit of The people of the town and others. We need to put into place a supply-side tax cuts on a town level that will allow entrepreneurs to invest and increase productivity. I believe by doing this we will bring more business to our town and also have a surplus. We would have to set up a emergency savings for the town that could not be spent unless all the selectman voted yes to spend it, on only the operational running of our town. any surplus left would go back to the tax payers ( Its there money)."
This is taken right out of the 2008 budget and is why I am running.

"Now is not the time for the same old same old"So, does that mean you would support a Prop 2 1/2 override to fix the structural deficiency that exists in the Town's budget?
Thank you for your question.
I am not a fan of "Prop 2 1/2" I feel it should be either eliminated or re-written.
Clifford Blake 2 wrote:
I am currently looking into that entire situation. There are a lot of big issues facing our town. and I will tackle all of them within time. Thanks for the great question. Do I have your Vote?
From all of your posts I get that you don't like Prop 2 1/2 but other than that you don't get into what you would specifically do for the citizens of Clinton. You've posted alot of generalizations but not what specific actions you'd take. Going over budgtes line by line and meeting with town departments doesn't give us an idea of what exactly you'd do to bring about change. You haven't taken a stand one way or another on any of the issues facing the town so it's hard for anyone to decide to vote for you without knowing exactly what you want to accomplish in office. I, like many others can't make the candidates night so will have no chance to actually hear your thoughts. You can't rely on that night to be your only chance to let the voters get to know you.

Mr. Blake, apparently you did not read my whole post that said I am UNABLE to attend the debate. But thank you for making it clear as to your standpoint on not posting any information pertaining to your campaign or your ideas for the town.
Frankly, I have not yet decided who I will be voting for in any of the categories yet, so your assumption is incorrect. I have not lived in this town long enough to know anything about all the candidates (therefore, have no bias views) and am relying on their openness in these forums, on their own sites and in the newspapers for their views about the town and their plans to fix it. My guess is, I'm not the only one, as I'm sure there are others who have extremely busy schedules that may not be able to afford them the time to go to the debate and rely on that as their sole source of information.
I am sure that if you do win, you are sincere in your pledge to work for all the citizens, even me, but the rude tone of your post was not necessary. A simple explanation as to why you choose not to share any of your ideas until the debate would have been sufficient for me to maintain an open mind.

Make that three lost votes, I'll be voting for Mr. Connolly who gave excellent detailed answers to my questions. He has an excellent grasp of the issues.
What about that Weeks character? Does anyone have a clue as to what he believes in or is he just a beauty contest candidate?

WHAT!?!?!?!?!?
Take 2 minutes yourself and go back through this thread and answer the questions that people have asked of you. You've got some gumption asking us to re-state our questions that you have failed to answer, or answered with tired old platitudes that tell us nothing about your positions. The questions are all here, go find them. Your attempt to play us for fools is really starting to get tiresome.
And, if you looked around, you will see that I have attempted to ask the same questions that I have posed to you to your other opponent on this forum. I can't ask the Weeks candidate any questions because he evidently a) doesn't have a computer; b) has a computer, but doesn't know how to use it; or c) doesn't want to give us any information on his positions and just wants us to vote for him based on his name.
I have been trying real hard to get some answers out of you in a genuine interest in developing a give and take between the positions of yourself and Mr. Connolly on this forum. It seems as though you have interpreted my (our) questions as some sort of attack on your candidacy. I can tell you for myself, that is not my intention. But your lack of cohesive answers is driving many voters away from your candidacy, and you will have had no one but yourself to blame for that.

Now is not the time for the same old same old. We cannot go back to the way of doing things that has gotten us into this financial mess. I care for my town too much to let this happen. The current boards of selectman need someone who can get in there and show them a better way of doing things. I believe I am that candidate. I have the proven leadership skills and the diplomacy needed to get things done. Our town is surrounded by towns that are running in deficits. We cannot let that happen here in our town. I have had to deal with budget situations that called for a sharp eye, a steady hand, and the courage to do what had to be done to make sure financial burdens were met without going into the red. My appoints in this race may have ways of helping our town but time is running out and I believe I am the best candidate to get our town on track again. Help me help our town and together we can get back on track.

I gotta say.... I know some people are frustrated by Mr. Blake's generic statements, but I find him very entertaining.
There's no way I'm voting for him, but I'll keep reading his posts!

Yeah RickC, I'l keep watching myself, what a show. This guy doesn't have a clue how to run for the highest office in town. To keep posting the same sorry post is an insult to all of us who came here to find out what these candidates are all about. I wouldn't vote for this guy if he was the only one running.
Now if we could just find out about this Weeks guy we'd be in good shape. Blake is out, Connolly is my choice but I'd still like to see where Weeks stand on the issues that confront our town.

Don't hold your breath on Weeks positions or even his attendance at the 4/27 candidates night. Rumor has it he's not going to show. There were some people holding Weeks signs a few days ago near monument park. I can't tell you if HE was there or not, as I have no idea what he looks like..
He is kind of like a Phantom BOS candidate...Trouble is, people will vote for him on name only and that would be very sad for this town. And of course the people that put him up for the BOS position will vote for him too...

I deleted my last post since no one could seem to get it.
Basically, being hispanic, along with what seems now to be the majority of Clinton, I was appalled by the racist remarks made by one of the candidates, therefore turning me completely away from even thinking about voting for him. Like I previously stated, Mr. Blake has some amazing family values and a good head on his shoulders, and this town needs a change. Don't worry Cliff, you have my vote!
I think its astounding how all of you on here who are atleast 15 years old than I can't seem to grow up and be civil. "DID YOUR HEAD EXPLODE?!?!?!!?!" Kind of childish, don't you think? Hes posting it repeatedly because hes not giving his answers on here so some other candidate can take them and reword them.
Lastly, I thought people in this town would be more for voting for someone who has the best ideas and who would be best for this town, not the most popular. Just because someone has a few more friends than someone else in Clinton it shouldn't matter.
This is my last post. Please, don't ask questions about it. Thanks.

Ahhh, I think the vast majority of people who post on this forum are trying to do just that. However when we get spoon fed mindless drivel that shows us that a candidate has no clue of what he is talking about, and doesn't feel the need to defend his vacuous positions, it gets people to not vote for him.

Exactly what I mean. Some 40 year old trying to act like they are the king of forums.
Its not like this is a presidential election. I'm sorry, but it isn't my fault that you're
deciding to vote for someone you are friends with based just on that; because he
is your friend. These forums are pointless. I'm sorry you need to go under some false
name on the internet to try to bring people down. Go to the meetings and stop whining
about how he isn't answering your questions here. If you were that worried about what
he has to say, you'd show up.
