Has anyone who has had issues called the DPW to see if they could come back around that day to pick-up the trash, or to lodge a complaint?
If the people responsible for the task don't know of any problems, then nothing can be done about fixing those problems...
We called last year when it first happened, they apologized and came right out to pick it up. This time we left a message, no call back, bag left for the day.
I know it happens, that many houses must be hard to deal with, but it's happening a lot more often lately. Perhaps it's just one or two poor people in the trucks.

We are signing up with Gilchrest for curbside pickup.. they have a special and getting a better rate then trash stickers!

Sorry.. I don't remember.. I just remember it was less then the $2.50 I pay for a sticker.

Not to beat a dead horse, but was Columbus Day (this past Monday) a town holiday and as such, trash pickup is delayed a day? I can't remember from last year. Thanks.

Unless you live on Grove St, if your trash if usually picked up on Thursday, then it'll always be picked up on Thursday (unless Thursday is a holiday).

This is why I am using Gilchrest trash removal.. $2 a bag and pickup is always Saturday! How can you beat that?!

I'm interested in hearing about Gilchrest, but what are their rules? How big can the bag be, and how heavy?
I know it's probably against the rules, but I use 42 gallon bags for town pickup, and it's been pretty damn heavy, and I've never had it rejected.
Never mind... I found my answer on their web site:
$2.00 per bag up to 30 lbs.
I'm not sure what the town's rule is as I couldn't find it anywhere.

Beacon is usually a Monday pickup, yes? It should have been picked up Tuesday.
It happens sometimes. People just explode. Natural causes.

The town does have a 30 lb rule too .. but the workers do not enforce it.

I also remember something about a three bag limit from years ago, but don't know if that is still in effect.

There is some sort of limit because we had done some cleaning and left quite a few bags out and some were left behind.

I hear what you're saying Julie but here's the thing - I pay taxes (i.e. DPW salaries) AND I pay for the freakin' trash stickers - the least they can do is pick up the trash on the schedule they set forth. Frustrating.

I was looking for a dumpster a few weeks ago and looked on the Gilchrest web page and it said, "we are your answer to those unsightly dumpsters" now they offer dumpsters?? I wonder, are they confused as to what they want to do??

Sorry for the confusion about the "unsightly dumpsters" quote. Apparently someone misunderstood the website. The reference to unactractive dumpsters was intended for those customers that dislike the appearance of a dumpster in their driveway.
