Thanks thinky! My wife and I actually just moved to Clinton, so we do not know the area very well at all yet. There were some large 18 hole courses near our old home, as well as some smaller 9 hole courses. I have played on a variety of terrain settings also, generally the more flat and open the land, the easier it is to play, but hilly wooded courses are fun too! Below is a good link where you can browse all the different courses... Some even have photos... Is there anywhere in Clinton that might be a good contender for a course?

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/browse_map.php

I usually pick up the book as I leave town meeting. I think I got one last year. I think it is usually 1 fiscal year behind. I recall a line item to pay for that book in the budget. Maybe I'm mistaken.

willow wrote:

willow wrote:

Same Ol' Same Ol' wrote:

Private sector employees are asked to vote for overrides. Why shouldn't they be compared to educators?

When I worked in private industry I was never paid for days off unless I supplied a doctor's note. I think that is standard practice in all hourly paid jobs unless one has a union.

I have worked in the private sector for quite sometime, and when I did not show up for work, I did get paid using my Paid Time Off (PTO). A doctor's note was not required to come back to work unless I was absent for three or more days.

Why do you insist on comparing an educator to someone who is working in the private sector?

I apologize for putting my two paragraphs above in your quote. I am comparing the private sector employees to educators because the private sector employees are asked every year to vote for overrides for educators. Contrast the pay and benefits of the majority private sector with the educators for the hours worked.

How many hours a week do you assume an educator works? Are you comparing the pay of people in the private sector with an MBA to educators with their masters? You seem to attack education as if it isn't in the same boat as the private sector. How many people in the private sector have to purchase all of their own supplies? I am sure there are plenty of educators who can tell you what they receive for school supplies at the beginning of the year...I can tell you the list won't be long.

When debt is systematically loaded upon one's shoulders, they become fearful of losing their job, therefore they are willing to work for less. When millions of jobs are offshored/outsourced, more people are left scrapping for the few jobs that remain, and are willing to work for less money. Matter of fact, there was a study conducted that found a correlation between CEO's pay and layoffs. You would be better off focusing on the numbers below:

In 1980, CEOs of large U.S. companies made 42 times the average wages of workers.
In 2011, the ratio of CEO-to-worker pay had widened to 380 times.
http://www.pressherald.com/opinion/reve … 05-03.html

Perhaps your animosity would be better off being directed towards where the real root of the issue lies.

We are in need of 3 Radio Flyer tricycles for the race scheduled on Friday. Originally, we were going to rent or purchase them. Being "yard sale season" we thought, why not ask the community if anyone is looking to get rid of one (or 3!)?

They must have at least a 12" front tire, the smaller ones would be just that...too small. If you have a tricycle you no longer want/need, please email CESFundraiser@aol.com immediately. They are needed by Thursday night to prepare them for the race...and we will come pick them up!

Not sure how pleased...Mrs. Sargent, Mrs. Contreras or Mr. Ingano will be, but we will be!! Thank you for supporting CES and our fundraiser!
