I am comparing the private sector employees to educators because the private sector employees are asked every year to vote for overrides for educators. Contrast the pay and benefits of the majority private sector with the educators for the hours worked.

How many hours a week do you assume an educator works?  Are you comparing the pay of people in the private sector with an MBA to educators with their masters?  You seem to attack education as if it isn't in the same boat as the private sector.  How many people in the private sector have to purchase all of their own supplies?  I am sure there are plenty of educators who can tell you what they receive for school supplies at the beginning of the year...I can tell you the list won't be long. 

When debt is systematically loaded upon one's shoulders, they become fearful of losing their job, therefore they are willing to work for less.  When millions of jobs are offshored/outsourced, more people are left scrapping for the few jobs that remain, and are willing to work for less money.  Matter of fact, there was a study conducted that found a correlation between CEO's pay and layoffs.  You would be better off focusing on the numbers below:

In 1980, CEOs of large U.S. companies made 42 times the average wages of workers.
In 2011, the ratio of CEO-to-worker pay had widened to 380 times.

My point was, it should be the responsibility of the Town of Clinton (whether it be P&R, DPW or School Dept...) to empty the trash.  It should not be the responsibility for the volunteers...  I'd just like to see some "branch of the government" take ownership of these fields because it seems like every year we are scrambling.  This has been an issue for many, many years...
